any suggestions on the better set, im trying to decide between jl, boston acoustics pheonix gold, or soundstream. i am trying to stay in the 100 to 200 dollar range. not really concerned with rms. i am going to buy an amp later. i have a sony head unit, clarion eq and 2 jl 10w0's running on a ppi sedona 100ix

Buy the ones that sound best to you.  Don't buy any mains speakers without listening to them first.

I agree with Dyohn...Take one of your cds with you and listen to your music on the speakers and get what sounds best to you

In most cases, yes this is correct. But if the option to listen to them is not available, it should be obvious that the Rainbows are gonna beat the Pyramids :D Just a thought...

yo forget evryting else, if u want nice clarity and good sound go for sum decent rainbow component sets. i think the slc and the slx range will fit into ur price band, very nice speakers, got them in my car- they'll murder anything for quality sound and good response. if u want summit even better then go for a pair of Morel but i warn u they r expensive but worth da money

I actually just purchased Atlas 6.5 components (Hifonics) (they'll be here today) for $95 including shipping.  Going to hook them up to my new KDC-X589 with the 24 bit Burr Brown DAC (oh yeah baby it's on tonite).  Not to many people have the Atlas but I hear good things about them (the 18db crossovers are also a sign of a nice setup).  I' ll post a review tonite when I hook them up (running of an old Punch250A2 that is a nice amp and still running).  As a side note the new HU I got is a beast.  Kenwood Excelon KDC-589, 24 bit Burr Brown DAC, 3 x 4 volt RCA outputs, Sytem 3 band Eq, HIghPass Low Pass, Sub, crossover which you can customize the settings for, DualZone audio, WMA MP3 and Kenwood Audio files with voice selection, HD Radio ready, Sattelite ready.  $160 including shipping (inncluding the plastic sheet on the faceplate) from e-bay (even got it a day early which was nice).  IF you ever need a new HU I'd get this one.

I have installed the atlas series components several times. AWESOME driver per dollar. They have a great value to them, especialy for the midbass response. Budget components dont get much better ;)

Thanks Nodestiny that makes me feel like I made the right decision.  I was looking at dimond audio m651 (i think) the crystal CPE60, PG Octane R, Cadence (the 6Kit which I heard that it was an older prodcut and no longer for sale in the US).  Nodestiny how do you thin the Atlas are compared to the Dimaond Audio.  (Man I can't wait for tonite to install the Atlas components).
