what sub have you put in. i'm sure you can resolve it by sticking an extra battery in. you could use a decent 'stinger' alternator,k they make models for all cars so you just have to get to a stinger retailer and stick in an order. plenty of stinger e-tailers

more batteries only help when the car is off. the closest stinger retailer is like an hour away from me. i put in an Orion H2 15

what year vw? does it have ac? the reality of the issue is VW does not offer upgrades. if you have an older vw with no ac you have i think a 60amp alt. you can put in a 90amp alt from a vw that has ac, if you have a newer vw, i think the vr6's have stronger alts then the 2.0's im not sure on this. you would be better off getting a deep cycle battery. oh and messing with a vw's electrical is like poking a shark, if you poke the wrong way your gonna get bit. and its gonna cost alot or if you can even find why the car wont start again, i speak from experence. hope this helped.
