replace bose headunit in audi a4

i have a 98 audi a4 with the bose stereo and want to upgrade the headunit for starters...  i am going to get a pioneer avic n1.  how do you install a headunit into the bose system?

do you want to keep the bose amps/speakers or are you replacing everything?
If you're keeping the amps/speakers you'll need an adaptor.
If you're replacing everything you just run new speaker wires and tap into the existing power/ground wires
