This forum kicks butt!!! :)

Anyhow, I have a 2001 Navigator with the upgraded audio (Alpine) and I need to know if the subwoofer output from the Alpine head unit is in stereo and if it is low level or speaker level?

I'd like to just splice it into some RCA's and run it to a new after market amp for new aftermarket subwoofers... but I dont want to feed my new amp high level into the RCA inputs, that would mean death :(

Anyone know?

It is a very low level, soldering RCA to the subwoofer audio leads from the radio is not going to give you much gain. We use a active LOC from SoundGate (LOCB.2) to add amps to those systems.

Oh ok, cool man! So that thing is 100 bucks after shipping, etc...

So it will take the very low level output from the head unit and give me a normal RCA level output, which then would run through RCA's to the back of vehicle and into the RCA input on the new amp, correct??

I've noticed that the LOCb.2 was made for the Bose and/or AudioPhile systems...

This Navigator has the Alpine system. Has anyone worked directly on the Alpine version? Is the low level booster (B.2) still needed for the above situation?
