Hey guys, I'm installing an XM unit (skyfi2) and would like it to be powered using RAP (Retained Accessory Power) meaning it should still be powered after I turn off the car and until the door is opened.
My question is which wire can I tap off from to get RAP on my 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier?
I bought the FM modulator (SA10003) (https://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00008Y8KW.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) so is it a problem if I put a RAP lead to the 12volt input on it, or does it have to be an accessory 12volt?
If worst comes to worst, where is the best place to get a 12volt accessory lead from on my 2000 cavalier (what color wire)?
Thanks guys, love the site.

What about buying a fuse tap and tapping somewhere in the fuse panel? Is this recommended?
I don't have much experience with locating ignition harnesses or whatnot.

There are no fuses, that stay on after the car is off and turns off after the door opens.
Can anyone advise me on how to get access to RAP? The brown wire that was suggested is a no-go.

don't believe there is actually a wire that control this function. it is internal to the radio...but look under relays and then under special applications on the left bar on this site and there is a diagram to add the RAP feature to any 12V device.

take the radio out if u can, there are a couple wires u can tap into but u cant tap more than one remote wire into a single wire as it cant handle the load (something like that, i had origionally put the amp and X-over remote wire to the same source but it wouldnt play, so i just ran a seperate wire.  i tapped into a yellow and blue wire...not the prettiest job but it works.  this Install was on a sunfire but the setup is the same as i have a friend with an '01 cavalier, the difference is that geting the dash off to remove the deck is a pain in the cavalier, but once its off its only 4 bolts to the deck.  just to make sure though take a voltmeter and test the wires with the door closed and car off and also with the car on, just to make sure.
