Contemplating an attempt of putting a pioneer HU into my neighbor's buick park avenue.
After looking at PAC and Peripherals SWI units i've come to a limited understanding of how these work. A little confirmation and clarifacation all i need.
1. The wheel controls get rewired to one of these units and then the unit basically turns the steering wheel into a handheld remote for the HU
2. How big are these things and where would be a good place to install one.
3. How accessable are the wires in a 97 park avenue... is it something that can it be installed in an afternoon with few difficulties, or a major project that should be done by an audio shop
4. Recommendations for a SWI

1.  Yes, you have it.

2.  They are relatively small and can fit almost anywhere.  The PAC SWI is about 2" X 4" but that piece can go under the dash.  The trick is finding a good mounting position for the infrared transmitter as it must be in line-of-sight with the head unit.  Most people mount them in the centr console, or in the headliner.

3.  No idea, sorry.

4.  PAC or Peripheral both work well.

No, RU?
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
