at low volumes, i can hear static.  when i rev my car, the static ticks faster.  what should i be checking?  i think i should recheck the ground wire to the stereo.  i noticed it after i had my timing belt and water pump replaced, but i don't think that has anything to do with the stereo.  btw, the stereo is an alpine cda-9835 and the car is a 91 honda accord.  thanks guys.

Check both the battery and alternator in addition to your grounds.  Also check your alternator belt- tension, wear, ensure it's not slipping.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
