I plan on getting a rockford fosgate RAV-DVD1 HU and it has discrete 5.1 sound built in.  Im also in the process of redesigning my dash and wanted to put in a center channel speakerat the top of the dash facing upward to utilize the HU's 5.1 channel audio.  But i dunno if I should have a certain size spkr and whats the least power handling i should have.  I want to make the best of the 5.1 so if anyone can give me some direction it'd be appreciated.

The quality of the speaker you choose should be proportional to the quality of the rest of the sound system.  Are you upgrading from factory speakers, adding amplifiers and a subwoofer?  Generally, you'll find speakers listed for use as a center channel will have a frequency response beginning at about 100 Hz....so that's no bigger than a 2.5" to 4".  The power handling is dependent on the amplification you use.  Here's a nice deal and the 6 ohm impedance would be fine to use.  You'll more than likely not need any more power handling than that.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Yeah I'm looking to go with kicker ks6.2 and ks5.2 component sets in the front doors, and a pair of ks6.5's in the back as well as a pair of 12" L7's and i'll have coresponding kicker amps to power em all.
