i have a 1991 toyota 4runner with factory alternator, im gonna put in a 170amp new alternator. is there anything i should know... is this gonna mess up my electrical system or anything? need special batteries? just makin sure before i throw it in...

No. BUT make sure you upgrade your output cable to the battery, though. 170A will be too much for your stock output cable, I can pretty much promise you that. You will need at a minimum, a 4 gauge, but that size wire will be riding the ragged edge - a 2 gauge will be a safer bet.

and im guessing alternators wont come with that kinda wire huh, oh well im gonna go get a 0 gauge and use that anyway.

I have found through past experiences that even though the mfr. claims that they will "bolt in" with no extra parts or mods, they don't.
This isn't always the case but just be prepared to add some washers or grind some edges.
