I just bought an 05 Taurus and was wondering if this stereo is upgradeable?  I'm looking to put my old Alpine head unit in it.  Are there dash kits available for this - if so, where are they available?

Thanks,

Angelo

So someone's finally got a fix for the Air Bag light issue?  Or did Ford change from 04-05 and move the light off the panel with the radio and HVAC controls?

I have heard of guys using a resistor to trick it... As far as i know it works. I do not do that because what if the resistor shorts ?? Air bag light !

I've done a search and it appears that a 10k ohm resistor is being used.  Does anyone know what wattage resistor to use?  1/4 watt, 1/2 watt, etc.??

I'm not familiar with either that problem or solution, but as far as your wattage question goes:  it doesn't matter.  You'll probably find the most selection in  1/2 watt or 1 watt resistors.   See http://www.bcae1.com/watt.htm

No way, it still requires the force of a crash.  If that were the case you would be replacing air bags every time you disconnected the battery.

No; the air bags won't blow; but rather it will have the opposite effect.  The system will see a problem and put on the air bag light.  The system will disable the airbags since there is some problem with the system to avoid a possible malfuntion and accidental deployment.
