Ford Expedition and Avic D1 -I'm an idiot

I have a 2000 Ford Expedition and the installers around here don't seem to be able to give me a straight answer on putting an Avic D1 in there. The opening doesn't seem to be a full double DIN. More like 1 1/2 or 1 3/4. It still has the stock stereo in it with the 6 disc changer and rear audio, but I have a D1 ordered. My questions are, will it fit my opening without cutting? Has anyone done this install before? I'm pretty sure I can still use the stock 6-disc changer, but can I use the rear audio controls for anything with the D1? Also, none of the installers in my area will do the D1 bypass (we travel and my wife would like to be able to watch a movie when she wants to - not the driver). I think I understand the wire thing, but I really have no idea what different forums are saying when they say to "make sure to ground the parking brake". Can anyone shed some light for a helpless moron when it comes to car stereos. I can hook up a crazy home theatre, but never touched my car. I'm sad. The open is actually a double din.  You will to remove the dash and support the unit with back straps.  The kits made for fords make it look like a 1-1/2 din.  I have done several F-150's and Explorers with double din units.  Alignment is key.  No modifications are needed.Do it right the first time

That's a relief. Thank you so much for the good news... I want it to look as factory as possible and cutting just doesn't sound very good. Surgery on my rig isn't very tempting. Since you've done a lot of these... do you know anything about using the rear audio controls with an aftermarket unit like the Avic D1? I'm assuming it's not going to be functional, but I thought I'd ask someone who's knowledgable. =-)I'm not an idiot - I just don't know what I'm doing...
