I have a set of older Boston Acoustics' ProSeries 6.5" components.  One of the tweeters suddenly stopped working.  I fiddled around with the wires to see if they had come loose from the base, but that apparently is not the problem.  I'm guessing it is blown.  My question is this--since the 6.5" drivers and x-overs are fine, should I try to find a pair of replacement tweeters or should I just start over with a matched set of components because the crossovers were designed to match these drivers?

Contact BA or a local dealer and see if they sell the tweeters seperately and simply replace them.

The tweeters have been discontinued, because the set is a few years old.

i had a costumer with exactly the same problwem on the r61x? i think. i found out the crossover was shot some one decided to mount it to the inside the door with cheap double side tape. with rain it rusted it out completly but speakers still work. so test the tweet out and eihter see if you can get a crossover for it or make your own.

It is definitely the tweeter.  I pulled the set out and tested it.  I think I'll just use the 6.5s as midbass instead of trying to match tweeters with them.

BA should still be able to recommend a replacement model for those.  They'll look at its sensitivity and freq response, as well as size, and find a current model that fits close to those specs.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

OK, I guess I will contact BA then.  Thanks!
