I have a 300 watt phoenix gold xs2300 amp and have a single jl stealth box....with a torn cone.  I have a Memphis Audio 10" dual voice coil sub to replace it with, but I was wanting to know the best way to wire it up and what to crossover my amp at.  Right now, I actually have the box and have it wired up like this..

and it sounds o.k., but doesn't move alot of air....   I heard this same box(with the JL) and it was amazing that there was only 1 sub in his truck....I'm using this diagram because I THINK my subs are 4 ohm...not positive   - (memhpis pr104d)  ...any suggestions

You have a difficult situation there, my friend.  Your equipment is all mismatched.  Check out these links for info on your gear:

You can assume that the DVC sub has dual 4 ohm voice coils, by looking at the specs in the above link and seeing the difference between the SVC and DVC versions of the same sub.  It appears that the info shows us specs for the PR-104D wired in parallel, which is how you have yours wired.

That load of 2 ohms should be attached to a single channel such as a mono amp.  Your two-channel amp is being overloaded with that load.  Your option is to rewire in series, but the xs2300 amplifier doesn't make nearly enough power to drive the sub.

Also, that particular Memphis sub would perform best in a vented enclosure due to its parameters.  I suggest you do a makeover.  Build a vented enclosure for the Memphis sub and use the specs in the link above for optimum vented.  Replace the amplifier with a mono amp that will make 250 watts into a 2 ohm load.  Use the PG amp that you have now to power a set of front speakers.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Not what I wanted to hear, but makes sense....I guess.  I do have another PG amp (Phoenix Gold Octane 5.0.4 - 4 channel 500w)   ftp://208.187.38.55/Phoenix_Gold/Manuals/Amplifiers/octane_r/  -  will that work any better.  I do have another sub, not sure if that helps or is indifferent.  I was just trying to use this setup because the stealth box was available now and at an excellent price.  I'm open to suggestions.  I have a set of Utopia components that I was wanting to install.  Are either of these amps enough for them?  I have looked into building a vented box like you were talking about, but I'm planning to put the box under my rear seat.  I got  aggrevated trying to make the shape of the box along with the correct volume work out.  I know there are programs to help for that, but...******  I have been looking for a set of drawings with dimensions...  I can make stuff if I have plans, just not very good at designing something this complex.  .

With my currennt equipment - Focal Utopia components   **  Phoenix Gold 4 channel 500w   **  2-10" Memphis Audio pr104d  **  Phoenix Gold X2300 300w  **  Kenwood HU mp3 with only 2 RCA outs -and yes the rear out can be made into rear out or sub out - ( just hooked up to stock components right now)    what would you do...please don't say sell and start over.  Thanks for your help
