I have 2 seperate problems.

  • I have an older Sony CDX-m3di car cd player that I got from a friend that does not produce any output from the speakers when hooked up. I know it is hooked up right and didnt know if there was anything I can do. I am going to try soon hooking it up to an amp and see if it can be used that way, but I would also like the get the speaker outputs to work.
  • I got a rockford fosgate p8002 amp to put in my truck to power my 2 hx2 12s. I have a 4 gauge with a 140a circuit breaker to a dirstibution block where 2 8 gauge wires coming out (1 going to the 8002 and one going to my 400.4 old school amp from rockford. They are connected to my rfx-9420 HU. They are both grounded through a dist block then 4 gauge wire going to a screw on the body that the paint is sanded off. The 400.4 amp works fine, but the 8002 amp only powers on into protect mode. I tried just hooking it up without the dist block and still the same thing. I also tried without anything hooked up besides power ground and remote and still the same. I opened it up and found no stray wires or anyhing out of the ordinary. Any suggestions, could it be I need a stronger remote turn on.

First the Sony.  Sounds like it's trash.  It'll cost you more than it's worth to fix it.

Secondly, your amp.  Try turning the gain all the way down and power it on with no speakers attached.  If it still goes immediately into protect, either it is fried or your vehicle's voltage output is way down.  Meter the main power and make sure it is above 11 volts (should be closer to 14v.)  A "stronger remote turn on" cannot be the issue.  If the amp is turning on at all, the trigger signal is adequate.

check the ground agean and try a different location. if that isent it open up the box look for unhoked wires and if that dosent work sit back and think. it sounds like a ground because i had a friend that had the same problem then he relocated his ground wire and it was fine. but if that isent it then i dont no dude.
