I am intent on running an amp at 1 ohm. I have 2 alpine type R DVC 4ohm subs that i need to get the most power from.  what are the major concerns of running at 1 ohm and how do I counter these concerns.  i hear horror stories about 1 ohm systems even when they are designed to run that way. in other words if done right can 1 ohm be the way to go? and what to do to make sure its done right?  thanx guys

make sure the amp you select can handle a 1 ohm load. your SQ will go out the window running an amp at 1 ohm. you are more likly to blow subs due to the fact that your T.H.D. level will be much high at 1 ohm. if you set on running a amp at 1 ohm and you want to push those 12" to there limits i would recommend a soundstream picassio PA 1500 D. i think for what you are trying to do i would make sence to get 2 15" type R's from www.ikesound.com

If you are going to compete in spl I can see 1ohm, is that what your doing? If this is your daily driver you should get a bigger amp and run at 2 or 4 ohm. better sq, less heat.
