Hello everyone.
Have a 2002 Tahoe LT, Non-Bose With On-Star. I have done a bit of searching on the site and around the web and cant seem to find the right answers.
Im trying to put my Kenwood H.U. in. I bought a harness adapter that appears to connect the speaker leads, pwr & gnd, and switch wires. There is also another small (maybe 8wire) plug that goes into the factory deck (no idea what it does(amp maybe) Upon connecting turning the Kenwood deck on, i get no sound - deck works fine, just no sound. I put the factory deck back in and just connected the big plug, radio turns on fine but no sound - when i plug the small 8wire plug in then the sound comes on. I have been reading that there is some kind of data bus & amplifier BS that i have not addressed yet, im guessing thats what my problem is. I bypassed all the factory wiring in my previous Ford Probe GT, so im not opposed to doing it again, but if it is avoidable, i dont want to re-wire. If there is anyone out there who has done an install like this or knows someone who has, please let me know. Also, which parts will i need and where can they be purchased. I am just trying to figure out the cheapest route. (Im sure its the re-wire process). Onstar is not a factor now, can do without. Sorry so lengthy, help if you can. Thank you in advance for your help.

Ok have been scouring posts for a while and came up with one that makes sense. The 2rd connector is for the tape deck (deductive reasoning should have prevailed on that one) The post i read stated that he found the pink wire in the 2nd plug to be the amps remote turn on. I am going to give it a shot and see what happens. Please feel free to respond still, if you have any answers to my dilemma. thanks, ryan

Excellent! I had excactly the same question! I want to hook up my Pioneer. Will it be tricky not to use the standard amp?

Ok,  finally had time this weekend to get going on my swap.  Well, i found the 2nd harness and it does have a pink wire but it does nothing when you hook my remote turn on wire to it.  Is there anything else i can try?  I dont want to cut every wire off that second harness.   Surely there is someone who has done a few installs like this and had to troubleshoot a problem.  Please help me out if you can.  Thanks again.

Yep its done! The speakercables are linked to an amplifier behind the glove. Its easy find and aluminium color to the right, pry the glove gently, and then the glovedoor hangs loose. Bend out the 2 electrical connectors and take the darn thing out, (not so easy). I putted in new speakercables from my new radio installation to the speaker output cables, now it sounds great, the D-pillars I hooked up on the rear speakers. I dont use the sub connectors for now, I will put in a new amp with new sub an cables directly from my new radio.

I attach the connector layout I had, you might have something else, I have an LT but there are at least 2 systems for that model with different wiring and colors of course(!)
