Hi,

Just received my Nakamichi CD400. I have installed it and the sound quality of this unit is just brilliant. Has nice other features, too. However, there seems to be some problem with the CD insertion mechanism. I can push a CD in almost the whole stretch, but it wont pick it up. It does switch to CD as soon as I push it in a little, but it never picks up the CD, inserts it and starts playing. Can it be there is some kind of transport-protection that locks the mechanism for transportation? There is no mentioning about this anywhere.

Hope somebody can help me out.

thanks. Arne

Sounds like you are the owner of a Nakamichi, high rate of malfunctioning, but great sounding, unit. Better send it back to get it repaired, be prepared to do this a few times.

well, since I have bought the unit through Ebay (yes I KNOW, risky, etc...), I dont have an original receipt. Just the Ebay confirmation. Would there be any way to proceed? E.g., will Nakamichi accept the unit by checking the serial no? That should give them some information...

I mean, its a top of the line product so I would expect the service to be good as wel...

(or at least, hope.... :S)

:)

You will have to send it back to Nak for reapairs. By the way my guess is that who ever sold you the unit knew of the defect, so at least give some negative feedback.

Unfortunately Nak is one of those brands that makes a great sounding and preforming products but is notorious for having a high rate of malfunctions and issues. Check out there website for more info http://www.nakamichi.com

Good Luck
