the guy i install for attempted to install a new pioneer head unit in a 1996 dodge caravan with the infinity system, now.... when you turn the radio up about half way all the sound cuts out. i didnt actually see what he did exactly, supposedly he used the factory ground behind the radio for the new head unit. any ideas what the problem could be? should you be able to feed hi level from a new radio into the infinity system without any problems? he also tried using a scosche FAI-3 without any success. the car already came back once when he tried installing the fai-3 so i highly doubt the customer will be returning a third time, so im just curious to find out for myself on this one.

Did u try another deck first?that would rule that out.  i would break out the multimeter next see what the volts are when cutting out.   hard to trouble shoot so far away!
