Looks like you don't have to relocate the factory HU anymore. Can just remove and replace with an aftermarket.

that was shown at CES this past year and they still don't have it out. Metra showed theirs at the same time and they have had theirs out for about 2-3 months. just goes to show you how much is involved with interfacing with GM LAN vehicles. what a pain.
