Hey all. A friend of mine who has a 1991 Nissan Maxima just bought a car with a radio problem. I've tried to diagnose it but it seems to be the first one ive had trouble with. It had a stock bose system but the original owner had the radio replaced to a single din pioneer. For the last three years it hasnt worked so when he bought it i took it apart. reconnected everything and it worked........now it has went on and off......off for good now. There is power in the battery wire, acc wire does not get any juice...everything else seems to be hooked up right, and no blown fuses anywhere. Any suggestions guys?  The ground on the radio is fine...

How do you know the fuses are fine, did you pull them and test them with a meter (if not, you should)?  Check in the passenger compartment as well as under the hood.  If you still can't find the problem, just run a new line from the accessory lead at the ignition harness (should be white or WHITE/ red, but test it to make sure).
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

we had a similar problem on a nissan car. when the rear speakers were hooked up the radio would shut down. the car we were doing only had the amplified rear 5 1/4s in the rear deck. we had to run new wires. problem solved.

alright thanks a lot guys. I did not check the fuses with a meter but i will do so. One question, the acc wire is suppose to bring up voltage on the meter when the key is turned to ACC right?  Just wanted to make sure because it seems that, that may be the problem.
