I will be installing a Clarion DXZ-845MP in my 04 Chevy Silvarado this weekend.  I have a few questions.

-What will I lose if I dont use a Chime module, besides the chime?

-Will I lose the RAP feature?

-I am thinking about just wiring it in with no adapter harness, is there anything special I should watch out for?   Yes, I know it will be more perminant this way.

Thanks

You will also lose On Star if you have it. This is a data turn on radio so there is no switched lead on the factory harness. You need to go to the fuse box and access the small white lead for your switched.
There is no such thing as free installation!

I lost the door chimes and RAP when installing an aftermarket deck without a module. I just used a harness for about 10 bucks instead of blowing 75 to keep chimes, which annoyed me anyway so it was win win. RAP isn't that big a loss, I got used to it quite quickly.
I did not have OnStar or Bose though, you will have more issues if you have either of them.

I dont have Bose or OnStar.  If I do decide to get a chime module will I lose the RAP feature?

Which harness should I get if I dont use the Chime Module?

Which Chime module should be used if I decide to go that way?

Chime modules have a built-in speaker, and also supply a RAP output for your aftermarket deck. Metra's GMRC-01 is a good choice. Barring that, the 70-2003 harness will work.
