H O alternator

I'm looking for an H O alternator for a 2003 taurus 3.0 v6 dohc. heard something about i can't get one because of it being regulated by the cars computer. This is the last thing i need. i've done the big three and it worked nice but with two directed 2400d 2400rms each plus a kinetik 2400 i need things to stay charged. or should i just get it rebuilt to 175a for $80

why would the computer regulate amperage? i think you are getting feed bull shoot.

This vehicle is equipped with a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controlled charging system. The PCM controlled charging system is a system whereby the PCM determines the optimal voltage setpoint for the charging system and communicates this information to the voltage regulator. The PCM controlled charging system is unique in that it has two unidirectional communication lines between the PCM and the generator/regulator. Both of these communication lines are pulse-width modulated. The Generator Communication (GEN COM) line communicates the desired setpoint from the PCM to the voltage regulator and the Generator Monitor (GEN MON) line communicates the generator load and error conditions to the PCM. The third pin on the voltage regulator, the A circuit pin, is a dedicated battery voltage sense line.

Circuit Description
B+ Output Terminal Circuit 36 (YE/WH)
Generator output voltage is supplied through the battery positive (B+) output terminal on the rear of the generator to the battery and the electrical system.
Circuit 1182 (OG/YE)
This is the A terminal battery voltage sense circuit and is used to sense battery voltage.
Circuit 3990 (LB/RD)
This is the generator monitor (GEN MON) circuit. The PCM monitors this circuit to determine the generator load and error conditions.
Circuit 1181 (GY/YE)
This is the generator 1 circuit. This terminal is used to turn on the generator initially. Once the generator is turned on, the generator will only turn off when the engine is shut down.
i believe that the computer will let it when the load is aplied to the alt. seeing you have had it upgraded i would increase the inline fuse it has the out put line to compensate for the system.

these are complexed and if i had a cutsomer ask this qeustion i would recommend to bring it in to your local shop. i've never had to upgrade one of these but i would try it first and mearsure the amparge uotput when the system is aplying a load to the charging system. from what i read .it desides the output by monerting the demand on the alt. and adjust accordingly. what it doesn't say is if there is a limit for output. but just creates a setpoint for the conditions that are present. more requirment of amperage more it will let go. and visa versa. they do this to get optimal gas milage.

hopefully i helped and please let us know what becomes of this issue. lol
