Playing an ipod in a Car

I want to use my apple ipod in my car. Can i just use an line out converter that you use on an factory fittet radio to your amp. is there some sort of circuit that i can use that i can switch between the ipod and the radio on the line out converter.

Is the deck in there factory or after-market.  The best way to control it is to either get an interface (pricey) or an fm modulator(cheap, but not the best sound quality) but then again MP3's aren't cd quality anyway.
