8 ohm load to 4 ohm stable amp

I have two 4 ohm SVC woofers and a 4 ohm stalbe bridged amp. If i connect the woofers in series I will get a 8 ohm load, would this be fine for the amp? If I connect them in parallel I will get a  2 ohm load that the amp would not be able to handle right? What should i do?

the amp is a MA Audio M689i

The only reason I am wiring this bridged is to get the most power out of the amp, should I just use one channel for each woofer? and then later on get DVC 4 ohm woofers?

One channel per woofer is probably going to be the safest and best configuration for now. I know people who have run that amp at 2ohms without any problems, but I wont recommend that to anyone, just because I dont want to be at fault or to blame for anything happening to your amp ;-)

That will be no problem at all, except you know the amp will not produce as much power driving an 8 ohm as opposed to a 4 ohm load. But there are positives to this configuration, like less distortion and a cooler running amp.

Dont run a load lower than the manufacture suggests. You are right.

lets say your amp is 100 watts rms @ 4 ohms  @8 ohms it will produce 50 watts rms.

The subs are only 300 watts max I really do not know what the rms are, the amp puts out 800 watts max at 4 ohm's, so if I put a 8 ohm load I would get 400 watts max right? if I do both channels I would get 180 rmsin each channel, so I would be better of with the 8 ohm load right? I just really do not know which would be the best wiring configuration? what have you have eperienced in this case? I have the box with one speaker wire connector plug, if I do connect each woofer to each chanel I would have to drill a small hole to get the other wire out. I just really would hate to do that, but I will if necesary. Please give me your opinion or advice.

Here are your options with this amp

• 2-Channel High Performance Amplifier

• 2 x 180W RMS @ 4 Ohm Stereo
• 2 x 250W RMS @ 2 Ohm Stereo
• 1 x 800W Max @ 4 Ohm Bridged

And with those woofers you can do one of two things. Wire them in a series for a net of 8 ohms which you can bridge OR run them 4 ohm stereo. It will be the same power either way, just do which ever wiring setup is easier.
