I have mentioned the possibilty of doing a sub and amp setup on another post but i wanted to create my own topic and see if i couldn't get more responses.  My original idea was the Kicker Solo X 12" powered by the Kicker KX2500.1, but i realize that i would need to swap out my alternator and battery (not sure if im willing to do that at the moment).  I have yet to hear the solo X, but i wanted something kind of different then the usual...does anyone have opinions of the sub??

Most Importantly: I'd like to know what the best single sub and amp setup would be.  Price is not much of an issue.

NOTE:  I am putting it in a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. The entire setup is going to be fiberglassed so im looking for a setup that will stand out.

While what are you looking for sound wise?  I don't know is you want the Solo X because it looks good, or since it's really loud.  So SQ or SPL?  Also...  do you want to be able to run this off of your stock electrical system or not?
That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

If price is not an issue, everybody here knows my nod goes sqaurely in the direction of Eclipse. The DA-7232 on a single SW-9122 will flat blow your MIND... AWESOME power, control, extension... Very musical combo. You COULD spend more, but why? For around a thousand to twelve-hundred bux, you can have it all...
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

arrow12-  I am looking for SQ and SPL .  I know that is getting greedy but i want somethig that sounds good but also hits hard and deep.  I do not want to change my electrical system, but if push comes to shove i will do it.  I don't much care what the sub looks like, the fiberglass enclosures and design will take the attention away from the look of the sub.  Have you heard the Solo X?? I can't fine one anywhere around here and have never heard it.

haemphyst- WOW i havent heard anyone say anythign positive about Eclipse in a long time, that's why noone carries it around here (Indianapolis).  BUT i will definately check into that because i'm not goign to sit here and act like i konw everyting b/c i DONT.  I do know however a little bit about the Titanium series from Eclipse..How do those compare?? Also, are those prices retail or wholesale? and where could i get some reviews on them?

Okay so i did some checkin up on that Eclipse set-up and i definately like it.  It requires half the watts of the Solo X and would probably have better SQ.  Not sure about the amp tho, haven't ever heard a big eclipse amp like the DA-7232, but the specs on it are definately appealing.  Do you have this system setup? or have u installed it before?

It is a big nasty big to which other systems look up to. Best Sub and amp setup -- posted image. As Canada's oldest Eclipse dealer and I think the first person on this site to really start mentioning the line, I too know the capabilities of this type of system. That amp and a pair of 12's = WOW MAN.

A side not, the new Xtant X2 subs are way cool as well, the Titaniums will pwn them mind you, but cool factor is higher with the Xtant's.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Eclipse is top of the line.  It will beat out Kicker and MTX in SQ (my opinion).  Eclipse and JL can fight the SQ battle out though.  Those are both amazing lines.

I honestly don't know why ANYONE would, or how anybody COULD, bad-mouth Eclipse. One of the last true High-End products avaialable for Car Audio, the Eclipse amps are exceptionally capable amplifiers. While I will admit they may not be QUITE as powerful as some other brands on the market, (Audiobahn supporters need NOT apply) the power capabilities rank very high, and the sound quality is second to none. My system is around 4000 watts, and it's in a Civic! Very good reliability, as well. My 8051 is almost 6 years old, and it has never even been out of the dash for a CLEANING, even.
I had the Ti 10 on that same amplifier, and I was sold. When I bought the 10, I was unable to afford the 12, so I thought I was "settling", 'till I could afford what I wanted. Not so, in ANY respect! The Ti woofers are fast, articulate, power hungry MONSTERS, (if on the inefficient side) that can definitely (and do absolutely) qualify as SQ woofers. The DA-7232 is a BRUTE of an amplifier as well. Keep it supplied with current, and you will never be disappointed. (This means The Big 3 is MANDATORY) I have a 165A alternator in my car, from Alterstart, and it was worth every penny I paid for it!
And to answer your question: Yes, I own both of these items. The amp and the woofer.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
