Best way to wire up the amp/speaker combo

I am getting ready to install the components of my stereo system and am looking for some advice. Through the great help of the people here I picked out what I think would be good for me. It's not the best, most expensive, or loudest, but I think it will work. Here is the link to How I got to where I am now... LINK I have my MTX Thunder 895 5 channel Amp, a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X689 head unit, and have a set of Alpine SPS-171A components to go up front on the way. The head unit is the only part that is currently installed. The rear speakers are stock for now. I am planning on using the 4 channel amp wiring kit from Knukonceptz and will try and mount it behind the rear seat of my 2005 Ford F150 Supercrew. I think I will run the amp power up the right rocker panel area and the pre-amp and speaker wires either up the middle or the left side rockers. My questions are, should I run all 4 channels (no sub...yet ) or "bridge" just the fronts? Would I need to do the "Big 3" upgrade for this set up? Any other advice to a newbie? I am sure as the answers come in it will generate more questions. Thanks! Dave

My opinion is to never bridge a 4-channel amp for mains.  You lose a lot of sound quality doing that.  Run all 4 channel amplifier outputs to the speakers, and upgrade the rear speakers to a nice coaxial set as soon as you can.  You should not need to upgrade your electrical system for this amp, but it never hurts.  Have fun!Support the12volt.com
