How does Phoenix Golds subs have a LED on the cone of the subwoofer, are there separate wires you need to hook up thru the box somehow hooked into the remote. Or is there some sort of way you can get a LED or neon light from the speaker wire itself. constant on, or go to music? I am just wondering, because its pretty cool if you can somehow.
Here is the PG sub with the LED in it.

I am going to check more info on this. but I am just wondering if any of you big tiem audio pros know about it. Thanks.

well... I discovered they use a remote and a ground hookup if you want the LEDS to light... seems wierd because odds are unless your building a custom box, you wont have power and ground inside the box... but whatever, still wondering if anyone knows if it can be done with any sort of transformer or whaaaatever from speaker wire anyways. thanks Neon or LEDs on Speaker wiring? -- posted image.
pdf, shows the power hookup is on sub Neon or LEDs on Speaker wiring? -- posted image.

I've have custom made LED bars that I hooked up to my amp and they seem to run fine. I just ran a extra set of wires from the output and hooked them up to a switch. The LEDs light up to the music, so far no probs or burnt out LEDs. Has anyone else wired up LED to their speakers?

wow, your right, i just tried it on a junky old amp i have laying around. it certainly does work, either side to the anode. only problem is it needs to be very loud to get the led to full strength. awesome tho, thanks alot for convincing me to even try it. I will try it on my bass amp tomorrow in my truck, but is there anything i can do to resist it? because its wierd also because it works wired either way?
and is the LED going to take any power. because i thought speaker signals were AC, and leds are DC. why does this work? coincidence, or does it just work for the instant that the AC waves would be like DC. and also on a bass amp will it be different than a full range amp like i am trying right now in my room?

Don't forget the resistor. About a 330 to 450ohm will do. I have made a few DIY's for my car.

no i know full well about installing LEDs in various applications my xbox has about 40, and in alot of my friends vehicles i have done alot, and computers. But i am also wondering because the ones i tested needed ALOT of power, then i threw the gain up slowly, and it burnt it out. and i can obviously calculate resistance if it was a DC circuit. but it isnt...i might use a variable resistor, and fine tune it to what i believe is correct. thanks for your input too labrat and keep up with the website, i noticed iw as the 11th visitor :) keep it going.

I just started the website a few weeks ago. My next DIY will be a control panel for all of the LED's in my car. I know my mods aren't pretty but they work.
