05 chevy equinox

I just got an 05 equinox LT.  I have subs, amp, and wiring kit and I am debating about whether to stick with the stock single disc cd player or not.  any thoughts on this?  also, what's the best way to access the back of the head unit?  can it be done through the glove box?  how difficult would it be to get the stock out and an aftermarket head unit in?  thanks!

yeah...i'm definitely leaning towards the aftermarket.  i do still have to get the adapter for the chimes.  i'd appreciate any info you have on getting the stock out before i destroy something...lol

I had to google to see what the inside of those look like.  I haven't worked on one.  That doesn't matter, though, because if you buy the installation kit for your truck, the instructions inside will tell you how to take it apart to get the old radio out.  It's always fun working on something for the first time, giving a test tug here and there, looking for hidden screws, etc.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

well that's the thing...i checked at my local best buy and they didn't even have a kit to install the stereo.  i managed to find one online, i'm just not sure what kind of instructions it will come with as far as getting the stock out.

Call around to other local retailers.  They may be able to order it for you.  I've never had a problem when I've had to use the instructions for an install kit.  They have to explain it good enough for you to be able to use the kit.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

To get the factory deck out, you need to gently pry up the panel that surrounds the radio, climate controls and shifter. Start at the back of the panel near the shifter and pop it up a bit. Pull the panel on the rear of the center dash below the shifter and under the power window switches towards the back seat. Unplug the power window switches. Continue to pry up the larger panel working your way to the top of the dash. Unplug any connectors for switches once it is free. Unscrew the radio and remove it. If your factory system has a rear subwoofer in the passenger rear hatch, your factory system will have an amp under the passenger rear seat.sparky
