Thanks for your reply but, I acually realize that much, but everyplace I go like best buy says that it is not possible to fit an aftermarket cd player in this particular car. Im just curious if they dont know what they are talking about or if someone knows for sure if it will work someway.

Use the Metra guide on this site to determine what parts you will need.  They may have said that because depth is many times an issue in those German cars.  You can usually tuck the wiring out of the way, and get your deck to fit, though.

Maybe you can ask the guys at Best Buy to explain how this guy got his stereo in then: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/718993

I read a post a while back about people using the amplified VW antenna adapter (or hooking up the wire they thought was for power antenna) where it wasn't needed, which made the check engine light come on.  Maybe that's why they told you that, who knows.  I'd just use the regular VW antenna adapter, and if reception was bad, then do one of the above.  If your car's antenna is not amplified, the wire in the harness labelled power antenna is actually a data wire, which will cause the above problem.

If you do a search, you can probably find the post.  I think it was Gus who posted the solution of not hooking up the "power antenna" wire.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Also if you pull the lower 3 switch panel under the radio to help you tuck in the wires be careful to label the three plugs. They are exactly the same and if you plug them in wrong it can fry the heated seats.
There is no such thing as free installation!
