Is an upgrade from that actually necessary? Upgrading is one thing, but blowing money away just to get something else is another... Those Focals you got right now are a tad bit better than OK!!!!

(just playing) More like a hundred times better than GOOD!Focal Beryllium -- posted image.

Have you maybe thought about building custom tuned box's in your doors for each woofer first before changing up? Maybe you would end up loving the end product more.  If not now, definately do it for the new speakers you end up getting.

bobditts, (and this is probably REALLY too late as far as a reply is concerned, but...) why the hate toward paper cones? Probaly some of the best sounding speakers in the world use paper cones. Generally speaking, I have discovered that paper will offer a lower Fs, with fewer breakup modes, than pretty much any other speaker cone. Morel, Scan-Speak, Vifa, Dynaudio, Seas, Skaaning... ALL use paper cones, and you cannot tell me that those are are some of the finest drivers on the planet...
If opinion matters, stick with what you have, or if bent on an "upgrade" then UPGRADE... The Beryllium is NOT enough of an upgrade to warrant the cost. Honestly, the DLS is nice stuff. Again, if opinion matters, to me, (and for MY money) there are WAY better sounding systems than the Focal stuff. BUT, remember also, that I am not the kind of guy to buy "off-the-shelf" kits. I am a fan of selecting drivers for INDIVIDUAL driver capabilities, then building my own "kit". I also bi- and tri- amp my systems. This is where my POV lies.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

It is easy. heamph taught me.
