Hey guys, I want to get 2 kicker cvr's and i want a sealed enclosure for them. The specifications say the volume per sub is 1.0-4.6 cu. ft. That's a pretty big range, is bigger better or is smaller better? Or does it not matter as long as its in that range?

you really should somehow find a way where you can test them... It demends on what you want to hear.   SPL or sq... Most 12s recommend 1-1.5 sealed. that is a huuuge range kicker offers.

Well, I'll be listening to pretty much only rap, so I want more SPL than SQ, but I definately want it to be tight and clean bass.

I agree if rap is your main thing, and you have the room, throw them in the recommended ported box.

Definately use a ported box tuned to Kicker's specs.  It might be a little harder to build but is well worth the extra effort.

Re: that range of size you are asking about, take the usual considerations when you are deciding.  How much space do you have to work with?  How much power is available?  How much weight do you want to add to your car?  The thing is, the entire range of sizes work for that woofer or they wouldn't have been recommended.

If you have ample power availablity up to or over the speaker's thermal power handling rating, you may want to tend toward the smaller size.  If power is more on the meager end, and you don't mind the extra 100 pounds of weight, you might tend toward the larger.  And there will probably be a greater low end extension with the larger size.  With rap/SPL as your primary goal, plenty of power and the smaller sizes is the way to go, as the extended low response is generally for SQ purposes.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
