Hello everybody,

I just completed installation of my stereo system. My HU is a pioneer DEH-P7700MP with a pioneer amp driving the front speakers and a kicker amp driving the rear speakers. I hooked up a kenwood equalizer. everything works fine. Except when I change the source on the HU , like switching from FM radio to CD. When I switch sources , there is this initial knocking sound on the speakers . It just happens once, everytime I change the source.

I remember that there was thread a read in this forum about the amp initial power on sound. I don't know if this is the case.

Can you stereo guru's help me on how to fix this.

Thanks

Tomasito

Is it happening thru both F& R speakers, or only one - meaning thru both amps or one?

I isolated the clicking sound. It is only happening with the front amplifier or front speakers

I suspect there's a break in the remote wire signal, maybe the remote flips off/on when you change sources.  The Kicker either has protection or stays on longer.  Or you may be connected to the power antenna lead from the headunit for your remote rather than a dedicated amp-on circuit.

Either way, bypass it by shorting the remote wire to the power + on the front amp & see if it still does it.  If not, it's your remote, otherwise it's probably something in the signal path from the headunit.  I'd check that next.

Thanks for the troubleshooting tip.  I need to fly out of town tomorrow morning. I will try what you suggested this weekend
