Has anyone had any experience with the new polk SR6500. I recently bought an new car, 06 4runner, and gave my brother my old car. I left my Quart QSD's in the car b/c they were already in custom kickpanels and it was just easier to leave them and have him buy me a new set. I began searching for replacments for the QSD's b/c I wanted to see what was new on the market, and b/c the ownership of MB Quart keeps changing hands.
I came across a review of the Polk Audio SR6500s saying that they were the cleanest separates the reviewer had ever heard. I haven't been able to locate a dealer that has them near me, and was hoping that someone hear has worked with/heard these speakers.
I realize that if I went the DIY approach i could save money and get sound eqaul to that of more expensive "prepackaged" components; however I do not have the time for this approach.   I have heard the Lsi home speakers that the sr6500s were developed from and they are outstanding. So if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. If you can compare them with the QSD's that would be helpful as well. Thanks

So your saying that you want new speakers because of owner changes of the MB Quart company? What does an owner have to do with the sound of the speakers in your car? This is exactly the same type of stuff that I was talking about in another thread. Since you already stated that these speakers were unavailable to you in your area then it would only make sense to find something you like that is available to you! I'm not trying to sound mean or anything, but you should listen to YOUR opinion instead of someone elses. Listen to some speakers and if they sound good then get them! Period. The exact brand has very little to do with anything besides the price. The best idea would be to just save a lot of money and stick with the MB Quarts you already have.

Dear Willdkartunes
Being that I'm from New Orleans and currently living in New Orleans, there aren't that many options available locally. Period! Second, what do you care if I take interest in a product that may very well be superior to the one I currenty have? Does it really bother you that much. Like I said the Polk Lsi series home speakers are outstanding and if the SR6500s are silmilar I would be interested in purchaseing them. Yes the Quart QSDs are great, I have no complaints with them.
Why do the ownership changes bother me? B/c with new ownership comes change and uncertainty. Quart has changed owner ship twice in the last few years, lines added and dropped(look at their amp line). It can also effect the warrenty on a product(they may not honor the warrenty on Quarts that were purchased or produced under Rockford ownership).
If you want a better idea of what I'm talking about consider this: PPI and Soundstream were two of the best lines of amplifiers when i got into all of this 10 years ago, and both have been since bought out and both have dropped in quality(I don't think anyone will disagree with me if you remember the PPI art series and Soundstream Class A amps).
And to clarify why I'm leaving the Quarts in the car, my brother asked that I leave them in and said he would buy me new ones making life a little simpler for both of us, makes sense to me. Why pull out speakers in custom kicks just to put back the same speakers? Or worse take out the Quarts and then have to rebuild kick panals b/c a different set of Separates don't fit.
I do agree that hearing a speaker is the very important. However, I find no problem with asking for someone else's input.
