I have a 1993 Mustang hatch back and I am in the process of installing a moderate sound system with SQ as the highest priority.

I have replaced the rear 5x7's with kaption coaxials and I am rurrently running two MTX Thunder MXS woofers.

I have also replaced the 5.25in front speakers with Xtreme units. I am dis-satisfied with the performance of the speakers, and need some guidance on a strong front stage.

I have been told to run a powerful 6.5in mid-woofer in the door for kick and 3.25 coaxials in the dash for the mid/highs. I am unsure if this is the best route. Will a larger set of speakers fit in the door? I am aware that  the glass for the window is quite close.

Any / all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A oversize set of 6 3/4" components are going to be your best bet for this car. Focal, Eclipse and MB Quart are all speakers to consider. Woofer into the door in the factory location (mounted to a custom baffle which is going to be 100% necessary) and the tweeter in the dash. Amplify with a minimum of 50w rms x 2.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

What about a kicker 6.5in midbass driver (SSMB6) (30hz-500hz)  mounted in the door combined with a mid/high range 3.5in coaxial mounted in the dash (100-22kHz)? The drivers reccommended were excellent but on the rare and expensive side.I am on a budget and was suggested this route.

Note: I have a 75x2 pioneer amplifier that wouldl be used to run the woofers.

I appreciate your expert input forbidden.
