Well its a 6/96 Expedition and some1 hooked up a sony explode Head Unit in to this truck. The speakers sound like crap after 1/2 volume.

I think its do to the factory amp in this truck.

What side of this truck is the amp (Where)???

And...If I bypass the amp will this help the sound?

If you have a factory amp, it's probably in the rear quarter panel. However, if your running stock speakers, you need to first upgrade those.

Hey I have an Expedition and if you have the factory sub also in the rear side panel then you have two amps!! The sub amp is actually mounted on the sub enclosure which is in the rear panel. Now the other amp that runs the door speakers is a pain to get to because its behind the dash and its kinda inside there.

What I did was, I used my Expedition Haynes workshop manual and traced the speaker wires near each door then I cut them off there and ran some good speaker wires from there to my aftermarket amp. I just left the factory amp behind the dash.

Yeah I would recommend upgrading the factory speakers too - you will be surprised how much more cleaner the door speakers sound with some good aftermarket ones. I recommend two way or three way speakers for the doors.

As the others said, the amplifier is most likely in the rear quarter pannel, but on the passenger side.

Ya we replaced the door speaks and the same thing happens @ 1/2 volume they just go to crap with like a white noise.

So if this truck dosent have a factory sub then the door speaker factory amp is in the rear quarter??????

Or is it in the dash like 760 said?????

From what you describe, I think the amplifier is clipping. What you need is an outboard amplifier that will provide the clean power you are looking for.

Thanks for the help guys.

The factory amp is behind/below the head unit.

I found the wires coming up from the factory amp behind the deck and made my connections there.

Way easy. Im glade I didnt have to rip out the rear end just to do this.
