I have a Kenwood KDC-X589 head unit which i installed less than a year ago. It has worked great until just a few weeks ago. It will shut off when i try to play a cd or listen to the radio in which case the only way to turn the unit back on is by hitting the factory reset button. It will go into standby mode and I have to switch it to cd or tuner and then it will shut off before any sound comes out. Now here's the funny part...It will play my cd's when i turn the volume way up...but the only sound comes out through the subwoofer...no other speakers...and once i turn the volume down it will shut off. Any ideas? I have checked the wiring and it appears fine. Appreciate it!

Check for a blown speaker or a shorted speaker lead. Disconnect one speaker at a time and see if the unit stays on.
There is no such thing as free installation!
