Hey guys.  Well, I ditched my JVC with the static issues in favor of a used Pioneer 2400.  I got it for next to nothing and it works for my purposes.  My question is this.  Everything is installed and working great EXCEPT:  I can't seem to get any CD to play.  I load the disk (have tried CD-Rs, CD-RWs and normal store bought CDs), it seems to load fine, no strange noises, not spitting it back out, but when I press the 'source' button, nothing happens.  The radio just keeps playing, it acts as if there is no disk loaded.  I'm getting any error codes on the display.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is the CD player just shot.  Like I said, I got it for next to nothing, I don't really care is the CD player is dead, but if I could get it to work, that'd be cool.  Any thoughts?  Any ideas on what to check?

Sounds like you bought a bad unit.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

so when you load the disc does the display on the head change at all? does it show it reading TOC?  or does the radio simply continue to play during this whole process?

the face plate flips down to load the disk.. after a load the disk, and put the faceplate back up, the radio just continues to play. no changes on the screen that I noticed, i'll take a closer look, but nothing obvious.

Ok, new symptoms that I didn't notice the first time.

When I fold down the faceplate and a load a CD, about 10 seconds later, it starts tospit the disk back out, but before it gets very far at all, it pulls it right back in. Does this 3 times and stops.  I can hear it doing the same thing, even with the faceplate closed.  Again, no error codes or anything.

The faceplate is a little tight against a trim piece, I'm wondering if maybe it isn't closed all the way?  I'll pull the trim piece and try it.  Any other thoughts?

Unit is fubar, which is more than likely why you got it for next to nothing.
