6x9 problem

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid. I just install some 3 way jvc 6x9's. I cant think of the model off hand. My problem is that once i installed these speakers they sound lower than the factory speakers that were in there. Can anyone suggest any reasons for this

Reverse the speaker leads on one speaker and see how they sound after that.

actually an easier way to determine if you have a speaker wired out of phase is just to sweep the balance control all the way to one side or the other...if you have good low-end response with it balanced all the way to one side, but it sounds like you are listening to it through a wind tunnel with the balance in the middle, then you have a speaker out of phase.....
