Is an amp rack really necessary?

I'm installing a MTX T421D amp in a 2000 Silverado. I've already built the two enclosures to go under the rear seats for a pair of 10's. There is a flat spot on the floor in between the two seats and it looks to be a perfect mounting spot for the amp.
Before I go and mount the amp to the floor, is there any reason I should consider installing an amp rack besides aesthetics?
On a side note that amp has rubber mounts, so vibrations should not be an issue.

No, you can mount straight to whatever you want. A lot of installers mount to the back of seats in the trunk area. But making some sorta amp rack for this area would be really easy!
Just cut a piece of wood and cover it with carpet or mdf. And then you could mount straight to that.
OR
Cut a piece of wood (dont cover it) and then mount the amp, and then cut a piece to go over the amp (with a cutout for the size of the amp). This way all your wires and such are sandwiched between the two pieces.
good luck!

Coppellstereo is correct. You don't need a amp rack. If you mount it to the floor make sure you use a rubber grommet between the screws and the mounting tabs on the amp. The amp will ground out if you don't.
