Ok as you can see im new to your forums and they look great. I just purchased my first ford ( I have been a chevy man for years ). When i get a new car i always install my system. I usually dont have problems i cant figure out, thats a main reason i have internet. Enough with the rambling on i will get right to the point.
I have a 1998 ford contour SE v6, factory speakers. I know there is a factory amp in the car because i had to get a extra wiring harness for it. hooked it all up and have power but speakers are not working. There are 3 wires on the power harness that are not connected to anything.
The dimmer wire, the power attena and amp turn on wire.
Im assuming i will need to hook the amp wire to something but i dont have a amp turn on wire comming from my head unit harness. Do i connect it to where my remote wire connects for my amp in the trunk? Any help is appreciated.

From what I understand, the head unit you're installing doesn't have a remote output wire, correct?  If not, you can use the red (switched) wire, but remember- your amp will stay on as long as the key is.  Connect this wire to the factory amp turn on lead, and install a 1.5k ohm resistor inline so you don't get a turn on pop.  Ford uses a 5 volt amp turn on.

No my Head Unit doesnt have a remote wire, its something cheap until i can afford soemthing a lot better.
My last car i had it installed in i had the remote wire connected to the power wire due to me always listening to my music when ever i drove. So i should connect the factory amp turn on into the power (red) wire with a 1.5k ohm resistor in line and then it should work? Just making sure i understand. And thanks in advance.
