Hello everyone. I'm having an issue with an amplifier and a set of door speakers and hopfully someone can clear it up for me.

Details:

2004 Pontiac Vibe

Clif Designs 2.2LX amplifier

2 x 100 Watts RMS @ 4ohms

2 x 150 Watts RMS @ 2ohms

2 x 175 Watts RMS @ 1ohm

and then a pair of Dynaudio MW170 7 inch mid and a pair of MD100 tweeters in the front doors wired for a 4 ohm load but more like 3.2 ohms

at lower volumes it sounds perfect but at moderate volumes everything starts to sounds compressed.....kind of like when you set a real high compression ratio and it starts to pump........musicians will know what i mean.... so i figured maybe it was the speakers load on the amp....i took them out and put in pair of pioneers i had laying around same issue....i swapped amps and same problem......here's the kicker if i put an eq in and cut the mids......big deep cut around 5000k i can get a ton of volume but guess what.......with it sounds horible with the mids cut so deep? Any suggestions?

distortion is a problem in the doors. Maybe the panels are vibrating or the cones are physically hitting the surrounding door materials.

You have a Dynaudio crossover that separates the mid and tweeter? One set of components per channel at a 4 ohm impedance (a 3.2 resistance reading would be right)? Settings on the head unit all at flat? High pass filter on the amp set to about 80 Hz? 5000 Hz is into tweeter territory; is there a -3db setting on the crossover you can try?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
