need to know how to get rid of the headlights dimming when my bass hits  i have red top opt batt  a powermaster 140amp alt,1000/1 jlaudio 300/4 jl audio  and a 5 farad cap alumapro   what do i need to solve this problem     the cap is hook up to the 1000/1 only and the other amp is off the batt

Sounds like your alternator isn't putting out all the power its rated as, did you happen to get it tested before you installed it?

It sounds like a overratted alt...which I have seen quite a few from powermaster, a bad battery, or a junk Cap.
First try removing the cap, if the alt and battery are doing thier jobs correctly, then you should not need it.
If lights still dim but better then the cap is part of the problem. if it gets worse then either the battery or alternator are not working correctly, go to o'rielys or another auto parts store and have them both tested.
another though, with those upgrades, did you do the big "3"??    if not then read the sticky post at the top of the fourm.

sorry forgot to mention that my red top batt is like 3or4 years old would that cause the prob using a old batt i was thinking of buying a new red top  but i will try the other things yall guys told me to do  thanks rob

think about replacing that red top with a kinetik if you have the money    just my .02 cents      kinetikaudio.com

Or an Exide Orbital (you might want to try a Purple Haze Jeff). Just my .02 but I think we can agree that there are far better batteries than Optima. Read the Big 3 and Grounding sticky as they will apply to this install for sure.
