I'm looking for an entry level oscilliscope for car audio purposes. I was checking out Vellemen's the series HPS10/SE. It seems like a pretty decent handheld meter for the money, Any one have any comments/suggestions on picking out a o-scope for car audio purposes.
Thanks,
Paul

I've got a pretty low BK Precision that I bought for around $350 that does a good job.  Its dual channel, which is nice.

However, I've never used mine for any car audio stuff, so I guess I really can't comment on that aspect of it.

That Velleman is one I would like to have.  Parts Express has http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=320-290&ctab=6#Tabs
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

I've only used HP models, they are 4 ch scopes and good to 10Mhz so pretty darn expensive.. def. not for a shop environment.
But good luck let us know what you find out

Did a little research on google and came up with this site: http://www.bcae1.com/oscope.htm
Has a doodieload of information on various car audio subjects, including o-scopes..
Also I found the Velleman HPS10SE on ebay for $170 shipped, this is the special edition with nice backlit blue screen. Also comes with hard case, and NIMH rechargable batteries. I think it may be perfect for setting amp gains, checking rca preouts, etc..

I have it, I use it, I love it. Works PERFECTLY for audio frequencies.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

eBay links are edited by the servers, and don't work, but in answer to your question? Yeah, pretty easy to read, a bit of light is required, but decent sized, and good contrast...
