Although it is cheap equipment, highly overated. How do you have them wired? Do you have them in sealed enclosure, ported, banpass? Did you match what the speaker requires for airspace inside the box?

prefab slot port 1.2 or 1.5 cu feet which i believe is the right air space. the subs are single 4 ohm and the amp is a monoblock

How is your gain set?  Are you using a subsomic filter at the port tuning frequency?

PLEASE do a search on this forum for "gain" and set it properly to match your head unit output.  Your subsonic filter should be on and set to the same as the tuning frequency of your enclosure.  What frequency is the port tuned to?

i have no idea this was a prefab enclosure. could part of my problem be that my amp is an 800 watt when the rms on the subs is 550 a piece?

Imagine Audiobahn sounding like crap.  Hollow or distorted sound may be due to operating out of its frequency range, possible source problems or amp not capable of reproducing those freq., more likely the box and porting are wrong for the sub ( to small )
