Hi - I purchased a 2005 Toyota 4Runner almost a year ago.  It has the upgraded JBL stereo system.  For the longest time, I could have my volume on around 6 or 7 and hear the music fine - it was quiet, but I could hear it.

A few months after I had the car, my friends discovered that you could use wireless headphones to listen to something else in the back seat.

Ever since then, my volume now has to go to at least 30 to hear the same amount of sound as before this was discovered.

We have turned off the wireless headphone part through the remote, but still can't seem to get the volume back to where it was.

I asked the dealership about it, and they still don't know why or how to fix it - they don't even think there's a problem.

But I was in my friend's 2005 4Runner this afternoon, and her volume is fine at 6-7.  She has the same stereo system.

Any ideas on how to get it back to the way it was before?

Thanks!

Jen

Is there any sort of switch or knob where the headphones are plugged in?
There is no such thing as free installation!

No - the stereo takes wireless headphones.  The only thing that changed with the volume was the rear wireless system was turned on, played with, and then turned off.

I also just came back from the Toyota dealership, and they do not know why.  They demo'd other 4Runner car stereos, which react the same as mine now does.  I just would like to have the stronger volume, where it used to be around 6-7, rather than at 30-40.
