Ive seen a lot of posts about how "boomier etc" a ported box is but noone realy mentions how well it functions in a normal trunk, hatch back ,etc...I just got a new civic (not hatch back)..and im going to be putting my box in the trunk...My question is ..would a ported box still outpreform a sealed box spl wise, even though its in a trunk with seats up (the subs im planning on gettin are two xs124,phoenix gold or rockfords..if that makes any difference)....any help is appreciated thanks

A ported box ( if built correctly to the subs ) will always be louder than a sealed box( all things being equal).  The question you should also ask is will it sound as good as sealed box.  There is a trade off with going to a ported box, yes they will be louder but they don't sound as good as a sealed.  They also tend to be bigger.
