Hello to all, I've been struggling with my Metra Kit for the last 2 weeks. Bascially I been going crazy trying to get the Metra Kit's defogger switch to work. I've called there Technical Support team and the first guy tells me to cut the black wire coming out on the back of the switch that extends to the kits wire harness and extend it to the radio's ground, tried that didn't work, I call again and the next Technician tells me to cut the loop quote "rabbit ear" as he called it twist them together and provide my own ground to something metal behind the dash, I then went ahead and reconnected the first wire I cut and reconnected it to the kits wire harness, I then cut the loop and extend it and screwed my ground into a metal chassis behind the dash which conveniently had a hole it. Still a no go. I call Metra again and they tell me the switch might be bad. I managed to order a replacement switch and when I installed it it was still a no go. I'm almost giving up, any one have any ideas?
PS. My vehicle is a 2000 Ford Taurus SES, and the instructions did not mention anything about making my own ground, Technician said it was in the instructions, these were the instructions I got which are also posted on there website

did you disconnect both harnesses in the trunk?  If you did try plugging the unused on back in.  That's worked for me in the past.

can't hurt try it.  Though if it does then that would be backwards of how I've always made it work.
