pioneer gmx374 cutting off

I have a pioneer gmx374 amp. Its 4 channel with 200 watts RMS 400 watts peak. Its powering 2 MB Quart 5 1/4 components and 2 6.5 coaxials. I'm also running a cheaper VERGE amplifier with 250 watts rms and running one 12 inch infinity at 4 ohms. I'm also running 4 gauge wire to a 4 to    8 gauge distribution block. My problem is that this pioneer is constantly shutting down and powering back up randomly. Im pretty sure its cuz its over heating because it only does this during the day when its really hot. But the cheap VERGE amp is fine no shutting down no nothing, thats what confuses me. Either way, anyone have any ideas of gettin around this problem without adding a colling fan? Is it overheating thats the problem?

Yes, it does sound like an overheating problem.  I'd probably touch the heatsink when it cuts out and see if it is indeed getting too hot.  Why not add a fan?  Do you have some space limitations?My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

ya the heatsink is pretty hot. Pretty surprised a 20 dollar amp outpreformed the pioneer. i guess i will add a fan, i was just too lazy

Your problem may be caused by the remote lead from your HU. the connection may be loose. Check both your amps remote terminal and your Hu's remote cable. Im just suggesting here. It may be also be caused by overheating. But its worth a try. Here's one way of testing. Hook up your 20 dollar amps remote wire to the pioneers remote terminal. blast your sound system during a hot day and see if it cuts off. if it doesn't,then the remote cable is the culprit. Try it!!

well i figured out the problem. It was a badly crimped power wire.
