I just got my Soundstream SPL 15 back from getting reconed.
When I first hooked it up, I ran both voice coils (4ohm) in parallel. That should put me at a 2ohm load.
I hooked it up to my Soundstream Continuum amp and there was only a hint of noise coming from the sub. I figured something went wrong and took it back to the repair guy. He hooked up one voice coil and it seemed to work fine. Other voice coil same thing. He told me he can't hook up both VCs because his amp won't push it (it's a home stereo amp).
I took it back and same thing, won't run both VCs. I have it hooked up with 1 and it works...but I want to know where the problem here is.
My amp should easily push a 2ohm load so is it a woofer issue?

Sounds like a polarity problem with one of the VCs.  Reverse the connection on one of them.

I have had this amp for years waiting for a home. Finally after a few years (didn't own any cars for 4 years) of moving it from one house to the other I had a chance to use it. Come to find out one of the channels was blown.
I found a guy (Jaime) that used to be in charge of amp manufacturing back when Soundstream was US owned and he brought the amp back to factory spec. It's better than new now Is this a problem with my sub? -- posted image.
If anyone has any Soundstream equipment they need taken care of I highly recommend him. Very professional and excellent work.
With me luck with my new noise making aparatus
