Hello

I'm having a problem with my bass volume droppin to a very low level when im driving down the highway. When i just have the car switched to ACC running the stereo off the battery it sounds amazing. Then when i drive it stills ounds good but once i get up in speed to about 40-50km and over the bass jsut drops off and can barley hear it. I have a feelin its the alternator but would like some other opions ont his matter.

The gear im running is a Alpine IVA-w200 dvd hu through an Alpine PXA-H701 DSP. I have a AVI Abh1002 to power my 2 kicker 12s and a Rockford 4 channel powering my AVI mids/tweets.

In help in this would be great. Thanks

Take a meter with you and have a friend meter the voltage at the amps at cruising speed. Does it get worse with the lights on or ACC used? Turn on everything and see if the vehicle approaches stall. If it is, then the alternator is the culprit.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

does the entire system drop in volume? or just the subs?  If it is just the subs, I would put in a vote that they're still playing at normal volume and road noise is your sound thief.  How is your sound deadening?

Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.

Im gonna do a test on the alternator tomorow when its light out again. I have quite a bit of deading in the trunk not much on the floor though. I still have about half a roll of B-quite left and i know the floor needs to be done. The front mids and tweets dont lose volume atleast that i can notice.  I just didnt think road noise could actually take that much away. but either way im gonna test the amperage at the alternator.

Thanks guys

Meter the voltage at the amp as Rob suggested. You can't test the amperage while driving. Set your volt meter to DC volts and place your test probes on the power and ground contacts on the amp. If the voltage drops, then you have a problem. You can they check the wires to see if you have a bad connection somewhere. You can also run long test leads to the battery positive post where your amp's power wire should terminate. You may also want to bypass your DSP unit in case it is somehow altering the bass.

So I tested all my power leads and ground all is good. Im gettin 14.3 volts right on the amp so power doesnt seem to be the issue at this case. I know its not road noise now either. So Im wondering now if something int he amp like a capacitor is not workin properly or if its something int he dsp has some issues. Its progressivly gettin worse now. Now where to begin is the next fun task.

the 14.3 volt is when you are driving?
